What classes can I take at Stand Up 8?

At Stand Up 8 we are proud to have the capability to offer our dancers a variety of popular dance styles.

Tiny Tots (Ages 2-4): Tiny Tots is a combination class for students ages 2 through 5. This class combines tap, hip hop, and ballet. Dancers will learn basic steps and combinations.

Minis (Ages 5 -7): Minis is a combination class for students ages 6 through 8. The class combines tap, hip hop, and ballet. Dancers will learn basic steps and combinations.

Juniors (Ages 8-12): Juniors is a combination class for students ages 9 through 12. The class combines tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballet. Dancers will learn basic steps and combinations.

PreAcro (Ages 6-12): PreAcro is an add on class we offer for our Minis and Juniors. Dancers will begin to learn acrobatic elements as well as focus on flexibility and strength.

Hip Hop: This type of hip hop dance is what is seen in rap, R&B, and pop music videos and concerts.

Acrobatics: Acrobatic dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

Jazz: Key features of jazz dance include using feet, arm, and hand positions, isolations of the head, shoulders, and hips, along with timing, and body movements such as body rolls, jazz walks, leaps, and kicks.

Contemporary: Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Tap: A style of dance in which a dancers wearing shoes fitted with heel and toe taps sounds out audible beats by rhythmically striking the floor or any other hard surface.

Lyrical: Lyrical dance is a style of dance created by merging ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song.

Solos/Duets: Dancer’s are able to take a solo or a duet in their chosen style. Dancer’s must be enrolled in the class of the style they choose to take for their solo or duet. Please note if your dancer wishes to take a duet with one of their peers please be sure to speak with their peers parents before enrolling in a duet.
